Deeply influenced by the history of Ancient African, South American and Native American artists, Floyd C. has forged his unmistakable style. Combining this influence with his love of nature, the ability to see the extraordinary in everyday objects, his knowledge of history and a tremendous respect and appreciation for life, he is able to release the spirit of each piece for the world to see. Thus, L'ements of the Earth is not only the name of the company, it directly reflects where the materials and the impetus for each creation emanates.
A native of New York City, Floyd C. came to California in his early teens. After four years with the US Marine Corps, classes in Fashion Design at Trade Technical College, a Structural Welders License from the State of California, apprenticing with Master Jewelers across the country, and studying Native American inlay techniques, Floyd C. has gained the edge he needed to utilize his innate creativity to its maximum.
There are many that can design jewelry, but Floyd C. can transform a piece of metal into a contemporary work of art that imparts a sense of history. Floyd C. believes that jewelry should be functional as well as beautiful and designs his work to meet this standard.
Floyd C. has shown his work at numerous venues throughout the country representing his diverse appeal. From the Association of Black Psychologists, to the front lawn of the “Rose House” home of the Pasadena Tournament of Roses Association; from the Beach Charities of Long Beach, California to New York’s African World Cultural Festival and Art show; from the Los Angeles African Marketplace & Cultural Faire to the beaches of Malibu.
Floyd C.'s designs have found a special place in the jewelry boxes of numerous men and women. People from all walks of life and from all over the country have found that the jewelry styling of L’ements of the Earth vividly express a fundamental concept … “from the earth … beautiful things are found and created.” |
